Where does trends come from ?

 

These trends cover every aspects, from materials to patterns and shapes, but particularlly colours.
Colours and their actuality work by season, and its trends are used by various fields: fashion,design, interior decoration, textile industry, automotive industry, craft hobbies…

 

How does these colours become « trendy » ? Who are the people that decide of the ratification of this or that shade for the year to come ?

 

Carlin International was the first « Colour Office » worldwide. Founded in 1947 by Fred Carlin under the name « French Committee of Colour », Carlin International is nowadays a trend forecasting office and a polyvalent agency. Including various poles, the group own this famous trend office where stylists are specialized in anticipating, forecasting and analysing trends.

To detect these same trends is a complex art, a skilful blend of sociology, awareness, knowledge of shades and worldwide cultures.

 

Almost sixty years after Fred Carlin’s initiative, there now exist several influential trend offices across the world, although Carlin International is still considered by the reference for colour.

 

Using Carlin’s expertise, Graph’It develops each year the Home & Fashion set, which includes 12 colors trends for the coming year. In stores in September,it allows students and professionals in the fashion and design, to have a step ahead of trends and to get these colors in a single set.
